School Removal Activities Room 419: USES has collected all visible Mercury and began removing floor tiles. USES identified some cracks within the sub flooring with Mercury vapor readings above the EPA cleanup level. USES will use a sealant to encase the unreachable Mercury in place prior to final clearing of the room Room 421: USES wiped down all of the tables with CS102 solution, then removed the tables from the room and staged them on plastic sheeting in the parking lot outside. The source room and Room 421 where the computer equipment is staged are currently being vented. Room 510: USES has completed removal of affected floor tiles and contaminated debris and will use a sealant to encase any residual Mercury in place to begin clearance of room Student Screening No additional Student Screening took place during this reporting period Residential Screening A total of 13 homes have been screen to date (10 for this reporting period). Three additional homes still need screening. To date, 3 residents have denied access. Additional items have been collected from screened homes for personal clean-up activities. The source house was also screened during this reporting period by EPA and START. Initial reading upon opening the front were 50,000+ ug/m3. EPA and START back out and contacted EPA's phone duty officer to mobilize OSC Terry Stilman for additional support and to lead the assessment and potential clean-up activities at the house. Community outreach EPA, including the OSC, CIC and representatives from ATSDR and the Oglethorpe High School system held a press conference and an availability session from 6pm - 10pm for a question and answer session. Approximately 20 parents, including students, attended. START will be setting up and running 3 air sampled tonight at the source house. The samples take 8 hours and will be finished and processed in the morning.
