    2.1.1 Narrative

On April 12 and 13 of 2010, EPA installed probes at 9 residential locations and the Doyle Elementary School. The installation consisted in drilling a small hole (about an inch wide) on the basement or first floor (if there was no basement) of each structure. The gaps around the installed probes were sealed with concrete. The probes have a Teflon cap which will prevent them from becoming a pathway for the vapors to enter the structures (if there are vapors underneath).

EPA will return to the Site during the week of April 19, 2010 to connect summa canisters to the probes. The canisters will be collecting air from the sub slabs for a period of 24 hours. Indoor air samples will also be collected simultaneously.
