Fertilizer facility in a residential area on fire.

1.1.2.2 Description of Threat
The fire at Southern States Farm and Garden's facility in Warrenton, NC began at 1745 on February 2, 2011. The facility was reported to contain fertilizers and pesticides within the building. The local fire department based on recommendations from a regional Haz Mat team instituted a 6 block mandatory evacuation. A school is in the vicinity upwind of the facility and has not been evacuated at this time. Phone Duty deployed OSC Jordan Garrard and Tetra-Tech. OSC Wagner (Region 3) was asked to assist due to her close proximity to the facility. OSC Wagner and OSC Garrard arrived onsite, the fire was still burning and under control.
1.1.3 Preliminary Removal Assessment/Removal Site Inspection Results
Residents and business in the vicinity have been evacuated. A school is in the vicinity upwind of the facility and has not been evacuated at this time. By 1800 on February 3, 2011 the mandatory evacuation was changed to a voluntary evacuation.

The Raleigh Haz Mat Team conducted air monitoring throughout the day. Local officials changed the mandatory evacuation to a voluntary evacuation by 18:00 on February 3, 2011.

OSC Jordan Garrard and OSC Chris Wagner from Region 3 have been deployed. Tetra Tech has also been deployed.
