1.1.2 Site Description
Abandoned Auto Service Facility. Minor asphalt spill near rear of building.

1.1.2.1 Location
5145 North Dort Hwy, Flint MI 48505

1.1.2.2 Description of Threat
In a February 22, 2011 letter, the City of Flint requested U.S. EPA assistance in addressing "...a black tar substance leaking from the rear service door. The substance is contaminating the ground and will eventually contaminate the storm drains."

1.1.3 Preliminary Removal Assessment/Removal Site Inspection Results
The City of Flint and U.S. EPA investigated the release and found that it had migrated several feet from the rear door of the auto service facility.

    2.1.1 Narrative
With assistance of a civil investigator the owner of the facility was located. As the owner is elderly, his son agreed to work with U.S. EPA. According to the son, the spill was caused by previous work at the building and once contacted by U.S. EPA, the spill was cleaned up. On May 17, 2011, U.S. EPA meet with the son at the facility to review the cleanup work. A review of the site found the spill had been cleaned up.
