2.1.1 Narrative
EPA has transitioned from the Emergency Response Phase of the project into the Time-Critical Removal Phase. However, the dangers at the Site continue to pose an immediate threat to human health and the environment. The current focus at the Site is to mitigate the immediate threats of release from the Site to off-site migration pathways. EPA's estimated time to complete the removal is approximately April 30, 2012.
2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
To date the following response activities were completed during this reporting period:
ERRS finished transporting the remaining contaminated soil (stockpile #23T and 24) to an approved landfill.
ERRS then started and completed the following site restoration activities.
- Graded the property to slow down water runoff,
- installed erosion mats on the southern slope of the property and the banks of the creek,
- planted tree saplings and wetland plants
- spread topsoil, and hydro-seeded the area.
ERRS took some of the clean concrete from the site and used it for erosion control. The concrete came from under a portion of a building that contained an office and had no chemical contamination and no contamination was found under that section of the building.
ERRS started demobilizing equipment the week of April 23 and final demobilization of personnel on May 1, 2012.
