2. Current Activities
  2.1 Operations Section
    2.1.1 Narrative
Soil flushing operations continued to remove and recover minimal amounts crude oil from the track ballast, with contaminated water treated in the on-site WTP.

2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
Detailed daily reports of all work activities on Site are provided by BNSF. These daily reports are posted in the 'documents' section of the website.

During this reporting period, the following field activities took place:

- Crude oil continued to be flushed from track ballast and recovered in a collection trench;
- Contact water continued to be collected & treated; and
- WTP effluent continued to be sampled for laboratory analysis to confirm effective operation.

There continues to be no visual or monitoring data evidence to indicate that any spilled product has impacted either the Galena or Mississippi Rivers. There were no injuries at the Site or wildlife impacts reported during the reporting period.

- BNSF will submit a document to US EPA & Illinois EPA providing a detailed estimate of the amount of crude oil released, burned off, evaporated, recovered and disposed of with contaminated sediments for the incident; 
- US EPA, Illinois EPA, US ACE and BNSF will meet to discuss next steps at the Site; and
- Planning will begin for implementation of a site restoration plan approved by US ACE.
