During the past week, the PRP was able to complete approximately 99% of the excavation and soil hauling to the land farm for on-site treatment.  Lab results received late this week indicate that there are a few areas remaining in the wall of the excavation that have residual contaminant levels in excess of the achievable remediation screening level (the level of VOC in the soil that land farming is incapable of removing), so some limited additional scraping on the side walls will be conducted next week.  Deep trenching operations were completed on June 11, and the equipment is being decontaminated and demobilized today and tomorrow.  Air monitoring and sampling activities are ongoing. No additional exceedances were noted at the MPA this week that caused either a change in work practice (engineering control) or a work stoppage.  To date, approximately 6,000 cubic yards of material have been excavated and 5,800 cubic yards have been transported to the land farm for remediation. Wind rowing and soil remediation activities have begun at the landfarm. FTCH used a side scanning mapping tool that generates a 3D image of the excavation and calculates volume of material removed.  Preliminary calculations are quite close to the excavated material numbers estimated on site.

    2.2.1 Anticipated Activities

A minor amount of excavation will be conducted at the chemical storage area to trim out a few remaining hot spots.  Installation of the SVE wells and piping in the trenches will begin next week.

2.2.1.1 Planned Response Activities

Excavation of contaminated soils and transport to the land farm, and installation of the SVE system with subsequent treatment via land farming and SVE.

2.2.1.2 Next Steps

Continue to excavate and transport a limited amount of contaminated soil to land farm.  Installation of SVE wells and piping runs will begin next week.
