--------THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FICTICIOUS AND IS RELATED TO A DRILL SIMULATION INVOLVING A DIRTY BOMB SCENARIO-------

On Tuesday, July 17, 2003 at about noon, Portland fire and police personnel responded to an explosion at the Willamette River off the I-5 cooridor. Local first responders asked the State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and Federal EPA to respond to the scene. The USEPA responded at the request of the ODEQ to assist in site assessment activites.
