The Thermo Fluids facility (formerly Spencer Environmental) at 6400 SE 101st Ave, Portland, Oregon, was the location of a four alarm fire the morning of March 15, 2004. Firefighters from several jurisdictions responded to a fire which was fueled by the oil recycling activities of the business. The fire quickly engulfed the building and spread ash and soot into the air and downwind. Oil wastes from the facility flowed into a nearby drainage ditch which flows into Johnson Creek.
