On Sunday, March 5, 2017, at 20:52 MST a consultant for Chevron Pipeline reported a 600 bbls. discharge from a 4-6” pipeline in Rangely, CO. The discharge was reported to have occurred at 12:54 MST. Based on a report from the scene the break occurred in a newer (< 7 years old) 6” gathering line and the discharged amount of oil is now thought to be closer to 1200 bbls. The cause is still unknown. Chevron had a response team on-scene confirming that downstream movement of the oil was stopped well above Stinking Creek (which flows into the White River). At this time Chevron reports that there is no impact to waters of the US.
OSC: Joyce Ackerman has been deployed to the scene.
