Pollution Report (POLREP) #4
Site Description
For Site Description and Background Information, please refer to previous POLREPs for this Site.

Current Activities
The following activities took place during this reporting period:

For the duration of this reporting period ERRS worked in the southern part of the north warehouse.  This is the area that was impacted the most from the fire.  All paint containers unless in original factory packaging are opened and a flammability test is conducted on them.  By the end of this reporting period crews are approximately 60% done with the fire zone of the building.

As of 5/6/09, a total of 10,053 paint cans were removed from the warehouse and placed into cubic yard boxes for disposal.  Of the total, 4,728 were non-flammable and 5,325 were flammable.  There are also a large number of aerosol cans, fertilizers containers, and other pollutants or contaminants that have filtered out of the debris pile that are being stored in boxes for future disposal.

Also during this reporting period a further assessment of the two large storage tanks attached to the south building was made using historical maps and industrial knowledge of the previous use of the building and they were determined to be water treatment tanks.  Most likely carbon or sand filter tanks.  The PRP stated that he had never used them while he ran the facility.

Planned Removal Actions
The following activities are planned during the next reporting period:

Cleanup activities will continue in the north building.  Once crews are done in the fire zone (which is the largest room in the warehouse) they will move on to the two main paint storage rooms.  Also during the next couple of weeks, a disposal on currently staged waste will occur in order to give crews more room to work.

Key Issues
One key issue has been resolved during this reporting period.  The PRP has agreed to wait until EPA is finished with our removal before he comes in and begins removing the non-hazardous materials.
