Pollution Report (POLREP) #2
Site Description
Homeowners report the accidental release of mercury in their residence (a residential single-wide trailer located at Route 3, lot 51-D,  Good Water, Coosa County, Alabama) in October 2008 but not revealed to authorities until May 2009.  Reported to EPA June 12, 2009.

Current Activities
Assesment of residence using Lumex, clearing personal belongings and removing contaminated debris from trailer.

Planned Removal Actions
Heat and vent to reduce mercury levels, screen personal belongings, set up residents in temporary quarters, continue to take out impacted materials to reduce mercury levels and make determination if residence is salvageable.

Next Steps
Coordinate with CIC to provide longer-term accomodations for residents and establish contact with the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers concerning replacement unit.  Have ATSDR do health consult based on existing mercury levels.

Key Issues
Existing health conditions of residents, reduction of mercury levels, determination whether to continue to address existing trailer or replace with other unit.
