Site Description
NRC Report #911621, Creosote Release, Columbus, MS
EPA OSC Rick Jardine, accompanied by START (TNA) and ERRS (WRS) deployed to the incident involving offsite migration of creosote and creosote-contaminated soils from a defunct wood treatment facility to a public area. According to reporting party, several stockpiles of this material located outside the property boundary within an area frequented by locals, including small children. MSDEQ referred incident to EPA due to current RCRA action being conducted at the treatment facility (suspected as source of release).  OSC R. Jardine  404.915.5868

FOSC enroute to site. Update forthcoming.

FOSC will assess and determine appropriate actions needed to mitigate release and protect the environment/public welfare.
