Air surveillance is continuing with the collection of high volume air samples for total radium and gross alpha/beta activity. Air samples are counted on-site using an alpha/beta wipe counter. Radon sampling on the perimeter using both real-time instruments and long-term samples commenced. Long term radon samples will be submitted to a laboratory for analysis.
PST and START has initiated the segregation assessment of the north yard. The assessment consists of the segregation of items demonstrating gamma radiation emissions from those items with no gamma emissions. The START began to assess non-gamma radiation items for alpha radiation contamination using a combination of real-time monitoring and wipe sampling.
