Current Activities
August 8, 2004: 1 OSC, 4 START, 1 PST
START and PST continued to segregate the radioactive and non-radioactive items in the north yard.  USCG Air Station Los Angeles provided chopper for OSC and START fly over of site to get clean aerial photos of site.
Ammended PST IAG for an additional $25,000.


Planned Removal Actions
Phase 1.  Stabilization:  May 26 - 30, 2004
Phase 2.  North Yard Cleanout:  July 19, 2004 - TBD. Demobilization during the week starting September 6, 2004 due to OSC, PST and START committments to the Continuing Challenge.
Phase 3.  North Building Cleanout:  TBD
Phase 4.  North Building Assessment:  TBD
Phase 5.  North/South Building Decontamination:  TBD
Phase 6.  Yard Area/Subsurface Assessment: TBD
Phase 7.  Soil Removal (as necessary):  TBD


Next Steps
1.  Initiate enforcement action against the land owner and business owner
2.  Continue community relations program to inform neighborhood of removal activities
3.  OSC Benson on-site on August 11, 2004 to cross over with OSC Wise.  OSC Benson will cover site from August 12-27, 2004.
4.  Remobilization of ERRS in late August - early September 2004.


Key Issues
1.  Approval of Action Memo with statutory exemption from Headquarters.
2.  Approval to discharge to the POTW from the City of Los Angeles.
3.  City of Los Angeles Local Enforcement Agency has prohibited the disposal of any solid waste from the site within the city limits.
