Pollution Report (POLREP) #2
Site Description
The Moberly Former Manufactured Gas Plant (FMGP) site is located at 501 Franklin Street in the city of Moberly, Missouri.  The site is approximately one acre in size and located within the Ameren Service Center. The entire service center encompasses approximately three acres and is located in a light commercial/ residential area within the city limits of Moberly.

The Moberly FMGP was in operation as early as 1875 and continued until 1935.  Ownership of the site changed to Union Electric in 1983. Union Electric is now known as Ameren. The service center is currently used by Ameren for gas and electric service distribution.

Current Activities
On-site contamination was addressed in the 2008 remediation action.  Off-site contamination on the City of Moberly’s right-of-way along a section of Dameron Street, north and east of the Ameren UE facility was addressed in a remediation effort iconducted in March 2010.  Approximately 3,000 to 4,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil were excavated and transported to the Macon Landfill for disposal.  The railroad tracks to the north prevent further excavation in a northerly direction.  Excavation in an easterly direction was limited by the presence of soil contamination not associated with the FMGP.  Backfill and site restoration activities were completed the week of 4/21/2010.  Demobilization of equipment and materials occurred the following week.

Planned Removal Actions
There are no further planned removal actions.
