October 18-22, 2004: - 1 OSC, 4 START, 2 PST, 10 ERRS - ERRS continued to bulk the surface contaminated objects (>30 but<222 pCi/g) (SCO) and non-radioactive debris into roll-off-bins. - ERRS and PST began to unload the on-site semi-trailer used to store radium containing material (RCM) and SCO. All debris from the trailers are contaminated and will disposed of as SCO, - To address community concerns, ERRS rented parking spaces at an adjacent business to free up street parking for local residents. - ERRS and the START assessed heterogeneous lots to segregate RCM and SCO. - The START conducted on-site analysis of gauges and dials using a BNC SAM 935 multi-channel analyzer (MCA). - The START continued air surveillance, updating of the instrument web data base and photodocumentation of items being disposed. - The START collected two samples from the gray water storage tanks. Samples were analyzed for total radium activity to determine eligibility for disposal to the sewer. - The PST conducted a perimeter gamma survey, personnel decontamination, medical surveillance, debris gamma screening, RCMS and updated the site personnel dose data base.
October 25 - 29, 2004: - 1 OSC, 5 START, 2 PST, 10 ERRS - ERRS continued to bulk the SCO and non-radioactive debris into roll-off-bins. - ERRS and the START continued assessed heterogeneous lots to segregate RCM and SCO. - ERRS sampled homogeneous lots of RCM for MCA analysis. - The START continued to conduct on-site analysis of gauges and dials with the MCA. - The START continued air surveillance, updating of the instrument web data base and photodocumentation of items being disposed of. - The PST conducted a perimeter gamma survey, personnel decontamination, medical surveillance, debris gamma screening, RCMS and updated the site personnel dose data base.
November 1 - 6, 2004: - 1 OSC, 2 ORIA, 5 START, 2 PST, 10 ERRS - Two radiation specialists from the USEPA ORIA on-site to assist in the assessment of the north structure. - ERRS continued to bulk the SCO and non-radioactive debris into roll-off-bins. - ERRS began to bulk RCM into B-25 boxes. - ERRS emptied the small shed in the yard. Materials from the shed were segregated and bulked into the appropriate wastestream. - ERRS continued to sample homogeneous lots of RCM for MCA. - ERRS and the START continued assessed heterogeneous lots to segregate RCM and SCO. - The START continued to conduct on-site analysis of gauges and dials with the MCA. - The START continued air surveillance, updating of the instrument web data base and photodocumentation of items being disposed of for the data base. - The PST conducted a perimeter gamma survey, personnel decontamination, medical surveillance, debris gamma screening, RCMS and updated the site personnel dose data base. - Water from the gray water storage tanks was discharged to sewer after data indicated radium levels well below discharge limits. Los Angeles County was notified of the discharge.
November 8 - 13, 2004: - 1 OSC, 2 ORIA, 5 START, 2 PST, 10 ERRS - Phase 3 was initiated begining with the assessment of the 10800 Burbank Blvd. structure. The assessment was conducted jointly by the START and ORIA personnel. The assessment included the measurement of gamma dose rate, radium activity, fixed alpha contamination and removable alpha and beta contamination. - ERRS began to segregate over 2000 five gallon steel containers containing aircraft parts into SCO anD RCM wastestreams. ERRS crushed the SCO containers using a track hoe to maximize the number of containers per roll-off-bin. The RCM containers were emptied of the gauges and the outer can crushed and bulked as SCO. The RCM gauges will be packed into B-25 boxes. - ERRS continued to bulk the SCO and non-radioactive debris into roll-off-bins. - ERRS continued to bulk RCM into B-25 boxes. - ERRS and the START continued assessed heterogeneous lots to segregate RCM and SCO. - ERRS continued to sample homogeneous lots of RCM for MCA analysis. - The START began to segregate heterogeneous RCM lots for MCA analysis. - The START collected and field characterized liquids contained in an assortment of gauges. The samples will be submitted for laboratory analysis by SW-846 methods. - The START continued to conduct on-site analysis of gauges and dials the MCA. - The START continued air surveillance, updating of the instrument web data base and photodocumentation of items being disposed of for the data base. - The PST conducted a perimeter gamma survey, personnel decontamination, medical surveillance, debris gamma screening, RCMS and updated the site personnel dose data base.

November 15 - 19, 2004: Continue to bulk RCM. November 22 - 26, 2004: Thanksgiving break November 29 - December 10, 2004: Finish Phase 2, begin segregation of north building (Phase 3) December 13 - January 2, 2005: Holiday break January 3, 2005: Mobilize to continue Phase 3
