1. Current Situation U.S. EPA contractors continued to inventory, stage, sample and haz-cat drums. Drums continued to be separated into waste streams and consolidated. Additional composite samples from waste streams have been collected and submitted for analyses to prepare profiles for disposal. Air samples were collected from the Warehouse and Manufacturing Buildings, under various work conditions, to assess metals concentrations of in air dust. A total of 331 drums were sent off site for disposal at Petro-Chem Processing, Inc. Air monitoring continued within the hot zones. No detectable concentrations of volatile organic carbons (VOCs) have been recorded outside of the hot zones. Progress to date: Drums inventoried - 3212 Drums sampled - 2978 Drums hazcatted - 2755 Vats/Totes/Tanks inventoried/sampled - 22 Vats/Totes/Tanks hazcatted - 22 2. Removal Activities to Date During the week of February 14 to 19, 2005, ERRS and START continued inventorying and sampling of drums in both the Warehouse and Manufacturing Buildings. ERRS continued staging, haz-catting and consolidating drums of material for disposal. An electrical short was observed in the Manufacturing Building and the circuit breaker was shutdown until repairs could be made. A defect in a smoke alarm resulted in false fire alarms and numerous responses by the Hamtramck Fire Department to the site. The defective detector was located and replaced. A total of 167 drums containing flammable paint related wastes were shipped off-site to Petro-Chem Processing for disposal. During the week of February 21 to February 26, 2005, ERRS and START continued inventorying and sampling drums. ERRS continued to stage, sample, haz-cat and bulk drums for disposal. Composite samples were sent for analysis to generate profiles for additional waste streams. A total of 164 drums containing flammable paint related wastes were sent to Petro-Chem Processing for disposal.
• Inventory, stage, sample, hazcat and dispose of all 55-gallon drums and small containers. • Sample, drain, rinse and render unusable all AST's, tanks, vats, totes and process vessels. • Rinse and dispose of all empty drums. • Transport all wastes off site to a CERCLA compliant facility.
• Continue to rinse and dispose of all empty drums. • Prepare site for staging and sampling of drums. • Consolidate all small containers. • Lab pack all materials from laboratory. • Collect air sampled for metals analyses from Warehouse and Manufacturing Buildings.
