Current Activities
1. Current Situation

U.S. EPA contractors continued to inventory, stage, sample and haz-cat drums.  Drums continued to be separated into waste streams and consolidated.  Additional composite samples from waste streams have been collected and submitted for analyses to prepare profiles for disposal.  Small containers are being consolidated and lab packed for disposal and drums and vats are being rinsed prior in preparation for disposal.  During loading of tanker trucks paint/solvent odors were noticeable at the site boundary, however air monitoring did not detect any elevated readings for volatile porganic carbon compounds (VOCs).  This reporting period, a total of 342 drums and 16,481 gallons of waste paint and flammable liquids were sent off site for disposal at Petro-Chem Processing, Inc.  An additional 288 empty drums were shipped off-site for disposal at MaxiContainer.

Progress to date:
Drums inventoried - 3320
Drums sampled - 3227
Drums hazcatted - 3100
Small container collection/lab-packed - 5680
Vats/Totes/Tanks inventoried/sampled - 24
Vats/Totes/Tanks hazcatted - 24

2. Removal Activities to Date

During the week of February 28 to March 5, 2005, EPA, ERRS and START continued inventorying and sampling of drums in both the Warehouse and Manufacturing Buildings.  ERRS continued staging, haz-catting and consolidating drums of material for disposal.  Small containers began to be consolidated and lap packed into 85 gallon drums for disposal.  Empty drums and vats were rinsed in preparation for disposal.  A total of 82 drums and 8,931 gallons of flammable paint related wastes were sent to Petro-Chem Processing for disposal.

During the week of March 7 to March 12, 2005, EPA, ERRS and START continued inventorying and sampling of drums in both the Warehouse and Manufacturing Buildings.  ERRS continued staging, haz-catting and consolidating drums of material for disposal.  Small containers continued to be consolidated and lap packed into 85 gallon drums for disposal.  A total of 260 drums and 7,550 gallons of flammable paint related wastes were sent to Petro-Chem Processing for disposal.  In addition, 288 empty drums were shipped to MaxiContainer for disposal.

Planned Removal Actions
• Inventory, stage, sample, hazcat and dispose of all 55-gallon drums and small containers.
• Sample, drain, rinse and render unusable all AST's, tanks, vats, totes and process vessels.
• Rinse and dispose of all empty drums.
• Transport all wastes off site to a CERCLA compliant facility.

Next Steps
• Continue to rinse and dispose of all empty drums.
• Continue sampling and profiling of consolidated drums.
• Consolidate all small containers.
• Lab pack all materials from laboratory.
• Collect soil samples from suspected impacted areas.
