The dirt lot has been capped and the temporary fence has been removed. The structure located at 5543 Riverton Ave. is currently undergoing the Final Status Survey (FSS) pursuant to the Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM).
The ERRS graded the site in preparation for its capping with asphalt. On June 17, 2005, the dirt lot was capped with asphalt. The ERRS has also removed all contaminated sections of sidewalk and any areas of sidewalk damaged during the demoltion of the north building. The sidewalk will be repaired during the week of June 20, 2005.
The START is continuing the MARSSIM FSS on the 5543 Riverton Ave. structure. The completion of the floor and walls survey units is anticpated by June 25, 2005.
1. Completion of the MARSSIM Survey. 2. Decontamination of the contaminated floor areas at 5543 Riverton Ave. utilizing acid concrete etching.
1. The MARSSIM data and work plans will be provided to the California Department of Health Service Radiologic Health Branch and the Los Angeles Count Department of Health Services Radiation Management Division to determine if the structure located at 5543 Riverton Ave. can be reoccupied.
