Current Activities
Site activities to date:  

September 22 - 23, 2003 - The PRP contractors continued with the waste disposal and site cleaning activities, which continued through this reporting period.   OSC Kelly conducted an on-site review of the PRP contractor’s air monitoring and health and safety to determine compliance with the accepted plans.

September 24 - 30 , 2003 -   The PRP contractors continued cleaning the ash pit and lab-packing of chemicals.

October 1 - 3, 2003 - PRP contractors have completed removal of liquid and sludge waste from AST tank 1 and completed cleaning of the scale pit and ash pit.  To date, a total of 198 cubic yards of waste sludge and 46,500 gallons of waste liquids have been removed from site.    Approximately 400,000 gallons of waste oil has been recycled or disposed of at Edward’s Oil.

December 12, 2003 – U.S. EPA and Michigan DEQ completed a final inspection of the site.  It was determined the PRPs completed the work as described in the Work Plan.

February 10, 2004 - the PRPs submitted the Final Report.  

April 5, 2004 - U.S. EPA issued a completion letter.
