Site work this week consisted of receiving and placing loads of fill soil and grading for the remainder of the cap; partially covering cap with 2-4 inches of wood waste; repairing the integrity of the silt fencing; and finishing placing rocks at edge of cap and along property boundary to prevent wheeled access to site. Front gate was installed. TV news cameras on site for coverage of the capping and future use.

Removal Work: Continued placing rock along the perimeter of the soil cap area. Repaired a few areas along the silt fence that were damaged by rocks. Prepared the site for trucks to deliver fill soil. Started delivery of soil from off site at about 13:45. Hauled a total of 9 loads and 234.23 tons of soil to the site today. The water truck hauled a total of 18 loads of water that was used for dust suppression and cleaning road throughout the day. The haul trucks moved a total of 3 loads of trash and no loads of soil today.
Other: Tied a replacement information holder on the front gate and filled it with fact sheets. Placed large rocks under trestle bridge over Sprague River to block wheeled access to site.

Other: OSC Parker, EPA, ODEQ, and County attended the Chiloquin Community Meeting to discuss future plans for the mill site and give the community an update on the capping progress. Met at 1130 on site with local and state government and held TV interviews. Two stories aired on TV in the evening. Estimated soil needed to finish cap and start process to add $50,000 to ERRS Task Order for more soil.

OSC Parker contacted county and they agreed to leaving wood waste off the area where the softball field will go. More trespassers – 3 kids wanting to go swimming, an elderly man looking for railroad ties. Passed a complaint on to the Pit operator about the soil trucks driving too fast and using their air breaks on Chocktoot street.

Other: Received dioxin results for air samples. Preliminary review of data indicates all concentration results are several orders of magnitude below the risk-based level of concern (which is 1.5 ng/m3). A resident living several blocks away stopped by to see what we were doing.

Finished installation of gate. Finished decontaminating and fueling heavy equipment. Cleaned out second office trailer and moved it for demobilization. Water truck hauled a total of 1 load of water for decontamination of heavy equipment. Demobilized roller compactor and crew cab box truck. Hauled the last of the trash and recyclables to transfer station.
Demobilize equipment.
Give gate keys to county and fire department.
