Current Activities
On Friday, August 10, as requested by the Minnesota Pollution Control, the U. S. EPA initiated a round of baseline air sampling.  This round will last 3 days, Friday to Sunday.  The purpose is to establish an air quality baseline.  Once the aggresive demolition of the bridge begins, EPA will take additional air samples to determine the impact of such activities, if any.  Please see the Documents Section for a copy of the Draft Sampling Plan.

Planned Removal Actions
Complete this round of air samples and be prepared for additional sampling when the bridge demolition begins.

Next Steps
Complete 5 consecutive days of sampling during aggresive demolition, and submit the data to the State for evaluation.

Based on their evaluation, the State might adjust the frequency of the sample collection as well as the parameters to be analyzed for.
