The Sybill site is located at 111 Military Road in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, and is comprised of a process building, an office building, pump house, water tower, and 26 ASTs (5 outdoor and 21 indoor) with a combined storage capacity of approximately 1,682,000 gallons. The nearest waterway is the Detroit River located approximately 0.5 miles southeast of the facility.

The PRP contractors have completed the ash pit and all ASTs including Tank 2. The bottom 20 feet of Tank 2 will be disposed of as a hazardous waste - mercury, lead, chromium, arsenic, selenium, and benzene.
On November 13, U.S. EPA OSCs Kelly and Powers, and DEQ representative Karen Williams conducted the first part of the final inspection. The second part of the inspection is scheduled for the week of December 1.
To date, a total of 1,136 cubic yards (y3) of non-hazardous sludge, 216 y3 of hazardous sludge, 46,500 gallons of liquid waste, 18,000 gallons of waste oil, 408,000 gallons of oil-and-water mixture, 60 y3 of debris, 6,700 gallons corrosive waste, and 36 tons of corrosive bulk waste have been transported off-site for disposal.
The City, County, and State will be notified asbestos remains.
Complete removal of waste in the sewer. Clean oil staining in the administrative building. Remove mercury devices. Remove PCB ballast (pending negotiations). Complete final inspection Barricade first floor windows and doors. Demobilize.
1) Continue with waste disposal. 2) Inspection and cleaning of manholes and cathbasins.
