Site Description
Please refer to the previous POLREP for background information.

Current Activities
The following activities took place during this reporting period:

ERRS, START, and EPA OSC remobilized to the site on June 3, 2008 following cleanup activities by PRPs since the last mobilization ended on May 13, 2008.  The purpose of the remobilization was to excavate those areas that were contaminated by the oil and hazardous materials during the tornado event on May 10, 2008.

Activities began with ERRS and EPA OSC conducting a walkthrough of the Site to come up with a plan of excavation.  Meanwhile, START collected a background sample of soil and conducted head-space monitoring with a PID/FID.  This background reading will be compared to soil from excavated areas in order to determine if cleanup goals are attained.

ERRS began excavating the two drainage ditches where a majority of the debris was deposited.  After checking several areas, it was determined that only a surface scrape of 3-6 inches was needed to capture the contaminated soil.  This was confirmed by START.  Also on a side note for the ditches, the property owner stopped by with his engineer and asked EPA not to backfill the ditches because they would be putting in a new entrance to the industrial park directly on top of the excavated areas.  Once the ditches were complete, ERRS moved to the ditches along both sides of Highway 251.  A similar strategy was used for these ditches (3-6 inches).  All excavated soil was stockpiled on poly sheeting and covered.

The next morning, ERRS finished the excavation of all ditches.  Approximately 30-35 dump truck loads of soil were excavated with an estimated total of 500-550 cubic yards.

The next task was to backfill the ditches along the highway.  Dirt was brought in and spread in the ditches.  The ditches were then seeded and straw was placed on top.  These activities took the majority of the day.  START also took 2 composite samples of the stockpile and sent them to the lab for analysis for disposal.  The samples will be analyzed for RCRA metals and TCLP VOC’s.  This completed the activities planned for this mobilization.  The Site was secured (including covering the stockpile) and ERRS, START, and EPA demobilized at the end of the day on June 4, 2008.

Planned Removal Actions
The only remaining work to be completed at the Site is the removal of the stockpile.  Once analytical comes back from the lab, ERRS will remobilize to the Site and load the stockpile out for disposal.
