Unified Command meeting held on 8/22/08. Diesel recovered as of August 19 is 14,761 gallons. AT&T is short 721 gallons (exact total diesel spilled is 15,482 gallons) [Note, a previous version of POLREP #6 incorrectly under reported that AT&T was short 239 gallons. This was due to inadvertently using the initial spill estimate of 15,000 instead of 15,482 gallons.]
The facility storm drain by-pass was able to handle this past week rain event.
Storm drain from facility property down North Creek Parkway to wetland pond seems clean with some lingering residual diesel around catch basins #2 and #3 (these are right before diffusers to pond). This assessment is based on VOC readings of headspace in plastic bags containing booms removed from catch basins along North Creek Parkway. There is no obvious red diesel stain on booms pulled from catch basins #2 and #3.
No sheen has appeared on pond and hard boom remains on pond.
AT&T has done Geo-probing and results show no fuel has migrated off-site.
After 8/22/08, EPA START cotractor will no longer remain on site. EPA will periodically visit site to inspect progress.
AT&T continues to search and remove fuel that remains on site.
Booms will remain in place in catch basins until Thursday 8/28. After which (pending additional head space readings), booms will remain in Catch Basins #3 and #4.
