Emergency Pollution Report (POLREP) #1
Start Date: 9/27/2008
Site Description
This site was first identified by one of the recon group for orphan containers because of Hurricane Ike.  This occurred on September 27, 2008 at approximately 2:15 pm. This site is located north of I-10 and east of Sjolander Road. A vacuum truck that being operated by Vieola Environmental was discharging water to an unamed creek on the north side of Pine Lake Lane. The crew that was operating this truck would not tell the EPA recon team what they were discharging and who directed to do so. Two members of the EPA recon team smelled a pesticide type odor in the area the vacuum truck. Some employees from Chevron Phillips Chemical Company arrived later and stated that Vieola Environmental was working for their company. They stated that Vieola was removing dead fish and flushing stagnant water from the stream. It was decided that samples of the water and sediment from the point of discharge would be sampled for pesticides. Pending the results of the chemical analytical analyses, this will determine what the next steps will be.

Current Activities
Sediment and water samples were collected. These samples will be analyzed for pesticides. The results are expected in seven days. The PRP (Chevron Chemical) also collected samples that they are planning conducted the analysis.
