Site Description
The Site consists of 7 structures and 4 yards situated on 5 residential properties known as “homesites.”  In winter 2007-2008, U.S. EPA, in partnership with Navajo Nation EPA (NNEPA), investigated 56 homesites containing 113 structures.  The overall investigation identified 27 structures and 12 yards requiring response actions.  The 7 structures of concern and the 4 residential yards are located within the Teec Nos Pos Chapter area.  Two of the structures are occupied for residential purposes, although one resident has since moved to another structure on the same homesite.

Current Activities
Personnel On-site: EPA - 2 (OSC Musante, RPM C. Katin), PST - 1, START - 1, ERRS - 9

-ERRS began and completed demolition at HS-0002-A (an occupied house).  This resident is recieving temporary housing at a hotel in Farmington.  The pad for the replacement was prepared by over-excavation, backfill, compaction, and leveling.
-START/PST conducted air sampling for radioactive particulates during demolition and excavation activities and performed radiation screening of structure debris, soils and excavation areas.

Planned Removal Actions
This completes excavation and demolition of all structures and excavation of contaminated yards in Teec Nos Pos.

Next Steps
Next steps include reaching replacement and compensation agreements with all of the impacted residents.

Key Issues
An area resident inquired of OSC Musante as to concerns of radiological contamination at their homes.  The resident was directed to contact NNEPA to discuss possible future radiation assessments.
