On Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, two tanker trucks were mobilized to the site to remove liquids from numerous tanks and totes. Approximately, 9,270 gallons of liquids [Hazardous Waste Liquid (Cadmium, Chromium) D006, D007] were removed from the site and transported to Vickery Environmental, Inc. in Vickery, Ohio for disposal. ERRS continued logging and labeling drums located in Room B (see Site Layout Figure in document tab above). E-Tank contracted Enviro Serve to mobilize to the site and clean out the frac tank from previous facility operations. On Tuesday, Dec. 2, ERRS sampled 57 drums, submitted five liquid samples to the lab for waste characterization analysis, and pumped approximately 4,000 gallons of standing floor water into tanks T114 and T115. On Wednesday, Dec. 3, ERRS sampled 56 drums and performed hazard characterization testing on 40 samples. ERRS collected core samples from solid material in a DLH Plating roll-off box, produced a composite sample of the material, and split the sample with Ohio EPA. Two tanker trucks were mobilized to the site. Approximately, 9,400 gallons of (Hazardous Waste Liquid D006, D007, F006) were removed from the site and transported to Vickery for disposal. On Thursday, Dec. 4, ERRS sampled 66 drums, performed hazard characterization testing on 46 samples, and pumped off liquid in the DLH Plating roll-off box into empty totes. Two tanker trucks were mobilized to the site. Approximately, 9,300 gallons of (Hazardous Waste Liquid D006, D007, F006) were removed from the site and transported to Vickery for disposal. On Friday, Dec. 5, ERRS sampled 8 drums, performed hazard characterization testing on 41 samples, began collecting tank sludge measurements, and began segregating aerosol cans. ERRS collected core samples from solid material in tank T086, produced a composite sample of the material, and split the sample with Ohio EPA. One tanker truck was mobilized to the site. Approximately, 5,050 gallons of (Hazardous Waste Liquid D006, D007, F006) were removed from the site and transported to Vickery for disposal. On Monday, Dec. 8, ERRS performed hazard characterization testing on 50 samples, completed marking the tanks and totes containing cyanide and acid liquids, completed collecting tank sludge measurements for all tanks inside the building, removed debris from tanks, and transferred (consolidated) liquid from tanks to empty tanks. Oil from drums D085, D116, D117, D117, D119, D120, D121, and D122 was consolidated into tote T165. The City of Cleveland Building Department visited the site to inquire about demolition activities on the adjacent property. On Tuesday, Dec. 9, ERRS finalized a waste profile for chromic acid solution, completed marking the drums containing cyanide and acid liquids, completed collecting tank sludge measurements for all tanks outside the building, and continued gathering and segregating small containers from throughout the facility. ERRS collected sludge samples from tanks T126, T127, T128, T129, and T130 (on-site wastewater treatment system), produced a composite sample of the material, and performed solidification testing on the sample. On Wednesday, Dec. 10, ERRS continued gathering and segregating small containers from throughout the building, began logging information from small containers, began removing debris from tanks containing cyanide and acid liquids, and submitted sludge samples to a laboratory for waste characterization analyses. ERRS collected sludge samples from tanks containing cyanide and acid liquids, produced composite samples of the materials, and performed solidification testing on the samples. On Thursday, Dec. 11, ERRS solidified the waste sludge in tank T010 and repaired a hole in the property fence along Evarts Road. Two tanker trucks were mobilized to the site. Approximately, 8,700 gallons of waste chromic acid solution (D002, D004, D006, D007) were removed from the site and transported to Vickery for disposal.
ERRS will continue to perform: general site clean-up; sampling small containers; performing hazard characterization testing on samples; segregating totes, drums, and small containers into waste groups; consolidating waste material; solidifying waste sludges; submitting waste characterization samples to a laboratory for disposal analyses; and coordinating transportation and disposal of waste material. START will continue to document Site activities and conditions and perform air monitoring.
ERRS will begin sampling small containers; continue hazard characterization testing on all samples; segregate totes, drums, and small containers into waste groups; consolidate waste material; solidify waste sludges; submit waste characterization samples to a laboratory for disposal analyses; and transport and dispose of waste liquids and sludges from inside the facility.
Total to Date: 50,780 gallons of Hazardous Waste Liquids D006, D007 (Chromium, Cadmium) have been transported to Vickery for disposal 23,750 gallons of Hazardous Waste, Liquids D006, D007, F006 have been transported to Vickery for disposal 8,700 gallons of Waste Chromic Acid Solution D002, D004, D006, D007 have been transported to Vickery for disposal See Previous POLREPs for Waste Disposition listings.
