Site Description
See previous PolReps.

Current Activities
As of September 15, 2008, 15 residential properties with acute arsenic levels have been remediated.  As in the previous years, excavation of arsenic contaminated soils from affected residential properties was to a 12 inches depth.  Properties are then backfilled with screened top soils, and hydroseeded by a landscaping contractor.  Please see the Images Section.

Planned Removal Actions
Complete excavation and backfill of the impacted properties, and get them restored.

Next Steps
This project is listed on the National Priorities List.  Therefore, the Remedial Program will come in and address about 500 properties with chronic arsenic levels.

Key Issues
There are a number of properties that have not respond to our request for access.  Others with access agreements already in place, are ignoring our phone messages, and flyers, regarding the scheduling of the clean up.  We asked for assistance from the City of Minneapolis, and the Minnesota Department of Health, to contact these home owners, some of them rental properties, and get them to agree to the clean up.

We have enough work for one more week only.  After that our crews will be demobilized.
