Pollution Report (POLREP) #36
Site Description
Work Mission Statement:

Safely and efficiently investigate and remove Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC); Materials Potentially Possessing an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH), Munitions Debris (MD) and explosively contaminated soil(TNT) from the Elkton Farms Firehole Site, as defined in EPA's geophysical study.

Current Activities
During this reporting period, the FOSC continued to work with the ERRs contractor (GES) in the finalization of all site removal documents.  On April 17, 2007 the FOSC conducted a 2.5 hour conference call to review all comments and to ensure that the contractor was clear regarding the direction and the specificity of the Work plan and Health and Safety plan.

During this reporting period GES (prime) continued to prepare the site for mobilization of its UXO subcontractor (USA Inc.).  This included finalization of the site command post staging area and forward decontamination staging area, mobilization of site office trailers, break trailer, decon trailer and hookups of utilities and other support services.

During this reporting period, Herron 393 initiated the construction of the alternate access road to the site.  This road will connect the site to Marley Road and allow for EPA to mobilize heavy equipment.  The Elk Creek bridge was officially posted with a rated capacity of 24,000lbs. thereby essentially disallowing use by EPA.

On April 17 EPA received a draft Work Plan and APP, for review, from MDE under the VCP, for Herron 393 assessment and removal of UXO for areas (1095ft radius) surrounding the site.  The FOSC requested additional time to review and obtain START assistance for review, as well, on this critical document.
