Site Description
Work Mission Statement:

Safely and efficiently investigate and remove Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC); Materials Potentially Possessing an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH), Munitions Debris (MD) and explosively contaminated soil(TNT) from the Elkton Farms Firehole Site, as defined in EPA's geophysical study.            


Current Activities
The following stats apply since remobilization occurred on April 24, 2007:
1. Total Grids Cleared Gov't QA: 40
2. Total digs (anomalies): 70,078
3. Total MEC found: 16628 (MEC items include detonators,grenade fuze,blasting caps,tracer elements, incendiary bomblets, flares etc. etc.)
4. Total MD found: 2944lbs.
5. Scrap metal found: 1425lbs

Specific grids that were worked and passed QA this reporting period included G4c,H4d,I1b,J1a.

No work was conducted by uxo personnel during Labor Day week (9/3 - 9/7).  GESC personnel were onsite conducting Phase II infrastructure construction activities.

Phase II work was initiated on 9/18/07.  Previously stockpiled soils from high density grids were processed thru the hydro aeration stations.  The site Air Monitoring Sampling and Analytical Plan (AMSAP) was implemented during this period.  Action thresholds for  dust and/or particulate were not threatened. Asbestos sampling and analytical will be conducted during the next reporting period.

The Marley Road construction by Herron 393 was completed during this reporting period.  Herron 393 will proceed with closing off Zeitler Road to local traffic in support of both our work and their work.

FOSC finalizing Phase II Work Plan document; review and update of the site HASP specific to Phase II activity hazard analyses and any other site related changes; review and submittal of a revised Explosive Safety Submission to reflect recent USACE guidance.  Final docs by cob 9/21/07.  

FOSC continues to conduct weekly meeting/conference call, which includes EPA, MDE, Start, GES, USA and RMC both field components and their offices.  FOSC continues to participate in biweekly conference calls with MDE, ORC and site assessment regarding site progress and site issues.
