Current Activities
1. EPA, ERRS and START contractor personnel continue with the decontamination process at 5 areas of concern within the school.

2. Levels as detected by the Lumex mva consistently range from <1ug/m3 to 15ug/m3.  These results are considerably less than the 70ug/m3 results detected yesterday.  The cleanup goal is 1ug/m3.

3. Techniques to decon include merc vac, washing with Hg cleaning solution, ventilating and heating.  This process is repeated 5 or 6 times until levels are well below the action level.

4. Clearance Sampling Plan was submitted to DCDOH on 2/25/05 for their review and approval.

5. Drinking water fountain within an area of concern was found to contain low levels of Hg at the drain.  The trap was removed.

6. Approximately 20 drums containing contaminated debris will be staged in a secure location at the school pending transport and disposal.
