Site Description
Refer to Polrep #4.

Current Activities
EPA and its contractors continued with round the clock assessment and cleaning activities.  The mercury found in the corner of the third floor, southwest stairwell was vacuumed numerous times with hepa vac.  Numerous floor tiles were removed.  Numerous cleaning operations and followup assessment with Lumex MVA continued until levels at the floor were well below the cleanup goal of 1.0ug/m3.

START and OSCs performed assessment activities throughout the five story structure on 03/02 and 03/03.  No additional mercury was detected.

On 03/03/05 EPA OSC forwarded a draft Clearance Sampling Plan to DCDOH for review and approval.
DCDOH provided approval on 03/03/05.  Low volume 6.5 hour samples were retrieved during the early morning hours of 03/04/05 as per the Sampling Plan.  The samples were delivered to qualified lab in Middletown, Pa.  On 03/04/2005 in the early evening, the lab reported the results to EPA.  All results were well below the cleanup goal of 1.0ug/m3.  The data was referred to DCDOH for their review and decision to reopen the school.

Twelve drums containing contaminated debris and contaminated clothing will be transported offsite for disposal on 03/05/2005.

Planned Removal Actions
