Pollution Report (POLREP) #1
Site Description
The Tennessee Wheel and Rubber site is located at 817 18th Avenue North in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.  It is a bankrupt facility that is currently releasing hazardous substances and oil into the environment.  Contaminated runoff from the site is threatening the combined sewer system near the facility.

Current Activities
On May 22, 2006 OSC Spurlin mobilized to the site for a site recon with City of Nashville officials.  During the visit, oil and hazardous substances (including solvents and corrosives) were observed in drums at the site.  Some of the drums were leaking.  The OSC attempted to contact the Potentially Responsible Party (PRP), however, contact was not made.

OSC Spurlin determined that the site posed a threat to human health and the environment and an emergency removal action was initiated.  ERRS contractor Ferguson Harbor was mobilized to mitigate the spill and to secure and stabilize the site.  START contractor TTEMI was also mobilized.  OSCs Dorian and Byrd were dispatched by the Duty OSC to provide oversight and direction of the site activities.
