0700 Site safety meeting. Continue excavating West Tailings and stockpiling material in the Repository, at the flat top of the West Tailings, and

some material being used to cap the New Furnace. New Furnace area mostly complete with an 18-24 inch cap above contaminated soil. East

Tailings area mostly complete, with drainage bench in place. Discovered that extent of contamination downstream of Old Furnace area is more

widespread than originally perceived. Sample analysis shows higher readings in a wider area and ERRS contractors began to prep area around

Old Furnace for excavation.

Took 5 XRF readings. START and ERRS walked Furnace Creek to determine extent of contamination and length of creek and creek bank to be

excavated. ERRS measured 1100 feet from the Old Furnace to Garroutte Creek.

around Old Furnace and east along the creek bank. Capping around Old Furnace Creek half done. Made visit to Weyerhauser rock quarry on

their property at the end on London Rd. They have all the rock that we need for the project. START and USCG continued taking XRF readings for

the remainder of the Furnace Creek, from pin flag 4051 and stopped at 4060. Took 28 readings ( 300 ft).  6 XRF readings of the New Furnace

area and 26 XRF readings in the Furnace Creek.

0930 – 1 excavator inoperable. Repair man arrived on site and got all equipment in working order

USCG put Dataram out on West pile but forgot to turn it on so no data was collected for fugitive dust.

tailings pile. Dug a 20’ long 5’ deep trench at Old Furnace tailings pile. Visit made by START engineers to review work in progress and

investigate projected activities. 2 START and 2 USCG conducted 46 XRF readings in the Furnace Creek (from 10EK-4061 to Garroutte Creek

bank). START collected 58 soil samples from same area.  USCG took 5 XRF readings along new road and 3 XRF readings in trench. START
