Site Description
The site consists of one abandoned drum containing flammable liquids located in an alley behind 1955 Wyoming Street, St. Louis, Missouri.  Two other drums containing non-hazardous constituents were found at the site upon initial investigation.  The two non-hazardous drums were released to the city of St. Louis for disposal.

The containers were found in an area of mixed residential and commercial use.  Nine schools and six daycares are located within a mile of the site.  The abandoned containers were initially reported to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) Environmental Services Program by an unknown source.   MDNR investigated the site on April 24, 2007.  Sample results confirmed that drum #2 contained flammable liquids.  Drums #1 and #3 were not determined to be hazardous and were released to the city for disposal.

Drum #2 is an unsecured, 55-gallon drum present in an alley containing flammable liquids.  It is located in an unsecured public location, which is accessible to children and vandals.  The flashpoint for the liquids present was found to be 24.4° C.  This is consistent with the D001 Ignitability Characteristic as defined in 40 CFR § 261.21.
