Current Activities
Sub slab samples were collected at 214 properties.  There are 2 residential properties with probes installed but no sub slab sample collected yet due to scheduling conflicts with the home owner.

Of the 214 sub slab samples collected to date, 41 exceeded the screening level for TCE and/or PCE, established by the Minnesota Department of Health.  33 are residential and 8 are commercial/industrial.  In addition to those 41, EPA also agreed, per MDH's request, to conduct full column indoor air sampling at 6 additional residential properties.  MDH evaluated the combined hazard index at these properties and it exceeded the value of 1.

EPA completed the full column indoor air sample collection at 46 of the 47 targeted properties.  A home owner declined the indoor air sample collection.

As of February 22, we have received preliminary indoor air results for 3 of the 46 properties sampled.  All three are residential properties, and all three exceeded the indoor screening level established by the MDH in consultation with ATSDR.  Therefore it will be recommended that these properties have a vapor mitigation system installed.

Based on the sub slab samples received to date, the study area has been expanded.  The eastern boundary on Area A was moved one block to the east, to Zarthan Avenue, from 35th to 39th Street.  Also, properties along Highway 7 between Areas A and B will be contacted for access.  Please see Docuuments Section for an updated map.

Planned Removal Actions
On Saturday, February 23, EPA will be canvassing the expanded study area, and getting access agreements for probe installation and sub slab sampling.

Also, next week, accompanied by MDH, we will be meeting the property owners of the 3 homes with indoor air exceedances to go over the sampling results and to schedule the installation of the mitigation system.

Next Steps
Evaluate all the indoor air data and determine if any other residential properties require mitigation systems.  Also, conduct the additional sub slab sampling in the expanded area, the week of March 17, 2008.

Key Issues
None at this time.
