Site Description
See POLREP #1 for site description and background information.

Current Activities
During this reporting period, ERRS personnel finished taking down the large former facility building on-site and continued to conduct grubbing (brush clearing) and  removal of asbestos containing material (ACM).  Erosion and sedimentation best management practices (BMPs) were installed at the western end of the site next to the unnamed tributary to minimize the impact of surface water runoff from the cleared areas of the site.  These BMPs consisted or silt fencing and hay bales installed in rows between the saltcake waste landfill and the tributary. Scrap metal continues to be removed from the site.  Seven loads totaling approximately 165,520 pounds (lbs) were recovered and hauled off by metals recycling vendor (Tennessee Metals) from June 28 through June 30, 2010.   Options for treatment and disposal of the aluminum dross are being investigated by START.  There is now on-site security 24/7 and preparations are being made to shut down removal activities at the site from July 3 until July 12, 2010 due to the Fourth of July holiday.

Planned Removal Actions
Continued segregation and preparation for off-site transport of scrap metal.
