Site Description
On May 2, 2009, approximately one quart of elemental mercury was released onto the concrete floor of a detached residential garage.  According to the resident, the mercury was re-containerized in accordance with directions provided by poison control.  Shoes were left outside.  

The County EMA and ADEM responded to the incident.  The responding ADEM SOSC requested EPA support.  OSC Karen Buerki deployed with appropriate instrumentation and START support.  ERRS Contractor deployed to conduct clean up.


Current Activities
OSC Buerki and START are assessing the extent of contamination and need for further action.
