Pollution Report (POLREP) #8
Site Description
The site is SW of San Antonio near Macdona, Bexar County, Texas.  Weather remains sunny and hot, and the site has become dusty.

Current Activities
Chlorine offload continues into frac tanks.  Tanker loads of reacted chlorine are leaving the site to be processed by Oxy.  They will report chlorine poundage ASAP in order to allow calculation of removal rate.

Rattlesnakes have become a concern.  Several have been spotted in and near the CP and work area.  TCEQ reports running over two in the access road to the CP.  A stray dog at the CP was bitten.  Field crews doing foot work have been issued snake chaps.

UC met to discuss progress.  No significant issues.

TCEQ continues to monitor site activities and evaluate site environmental recovery activities.

Pile of fertilizer from a box car continues to offgas ammonia.  With recent rains and hot weather, levels have elevated to requiring PPE to be in the area.  TCEQ is coordinating removal of the material.  CTEH is performing continuous monitoring.

Secured helicopter to conduct visual survey of impacted areas and photo-documentation.

Five adjacent homes remain evacuated.  FOSCs made contact with family representative to respond to inquiries and requests for information.

Continuous air monitoring remains in effect.

Sent formal request for all site-related information to CTEH.  They and UP indicate full cooperation.  Data package is expected prior to demobe of CTEH personnel from the site.

Planned Removal Actions
Offgasing fertilizer to be removed.

Chlorine offload continues.  The operation may take several more days.

Next Steps
FOSCs demobed on 07/05.  START will continue air monitoring and response coordination activities.

TCEQ will begin reducing staff tomorrow, but will continue to coordinate and oversee site environmental issues.

Key Issues
Rattlesnakes have become a threat.

Offgasing fertilizer has impeded free movement in that part of the site.
