On May 31, the RP reported a release of 125 gallons of HCL from a tanker trailer brought in for repairs.  The trailer was reportedly emptied prior to delivery.  As a worker loosened one of the valves, a fuming cloud appreared at the back of the trailer.  The facility was evacuated as the HCL continued to fume out of the back.

2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
The RP notified the local fire department, who responded to knock down the fumes using a water spray.  The liquid HCL was contained on the concrete pad, emptying into the onsite oil/water separator and going into the facility's system.  The system was blocked before the HCL could empty into the storm sewer system.

Eagle Environmental was contracted to remove the HCL from the trailer, placing into totes for future disposal/recycling.  The material within the separator and sewer system were pumped into drums for future recycling/disposal.

The concrete area that was damaged by the HCL will be removed/replaced.  No other action is necessary.
