2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
On May 7 and 8, 2012, AVS continued to backfill the east bunker tank with site clay.
- AVS continued to grade the area east of the bunker tanks toward Oil Creek.
- TM Salvage continued to scrap Tank 51.
On May 9, 2012, AVS completed backfilling the east bunker tank.
- AVS completed grading the area east of the bunker tanks toward Oil Creek.
- AVS installed silt fencing in 3 locations in the graded area near the water runoff point.
- AVS demobilized from the Site
- TM Salvage continued to scrap Tank 51.
On May 10 and 11, 2012, TM Salvage continued to scrap Tank 51.
- Trihydro placed a new flotation ring near the west bunker tank.
- EPA and IDEM gave the PRP Group permission to remove the on-site GAC system.
On May 14, TM Salvage continued to scrap Tank 51.
On May 15, 2012, TM Salvage continued to scrap Tank 51.
- Trihydro reported that sludge leaked out of Tank 51 piping during scrapping.
- The spill was cleaned with oil dry.
On May 16, 2012, TM Salvage continued to scrap Tank 51.
- Trihydro requested visual inspection of the Tank 6/7 containment and east containment. No product was visible on the floors or walls of the containments, and the condition was documented with photos.
- The east containment had been previously deconned and inspected, but Trihydro requested another inspection since it held site stormwater since then.
On May 17, 2012, TM Salvage continued to scrap Tank 51.
