10/1/2013
Terra Hydr removed approximately 10 cubic yards of sandblast grit from the slope below the concrete parking area. One confirmation sample was collected by APEX at the base of the excavation (REX-15). Another confirmation sample was collected by APEX in the area where burned materials (REX-16) were removed. APEX also collected a characterization sample from the slope below the Pier 99 building (RAC-1) .
10/2/2013 - 10/3/2013
Terra Hydr and APEX completed bank stabilization below the Pier 99 building and filled and compacted sand in the Gravel Filter Area. APEX received results back from their confirmation sampling. Sample location REX-13 exceeded the site action levels.
10/4/2013
Terra Hydr was working on; excavating soil from areas where confirmation samples indicated that additional contaminated soil was present; removing excess equipment from the site; and disposing/recycling of steel scrap that was stockpiled on-site.
In the area where confirmation sample REX-13 was collected, Terra Hydr excavated an additional 10 cubic yards of material from the slope below the concrete parking area. A confirmation sample was collected by APEX at the base of the new excavation (REX-17).
Another confirmation sample (RAC-2) was collected by APEX in the area near the stairs where a sample collected during the EPA SI indicated that contaminated soil was present.
Terra Hydr and APEX plan to complete bank stabilization activities in preparation for hydro-seeding on Monday or Tuesday. Following the hydro-seeding they will begin repairing the asphalt parking area.

As of 10/10/2013 all removal and restoration activities at the Pier 99 site were completed.
10/16/2013
Removal of the large excavator from the site and dispose of the waste material in 7 - 55 drums.
10/24/2013
A final site-walk was conducted to determine if all of the project objectives were completed. Personnel in attendance included: the property owner, the APEX project manager, two EPA OSC's, one EPA START, and one person from Oregon DEQ. All objectives were found to be completed except for: 1) disposal of one remaining drop-box containing contaminated soil, and 2) results from confirmation sample REX-16.
2.1.3 Enforcement Activities, Identity of Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs)
A PRP has been identified and is conducting removal action under the oversight of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and in accordance with an Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent pursuant to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA). The PRP has contracted Apex Companies, LLC. to design and implement the removal activities.
