On Monday, October 20, 2014, 8 loads (~217 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for treatment at the EQ Treatment Facility in Canton, Ohio. ERRS continued processing and loading scrap metal for recycling. 3 loads (~19 tons) of scrap metal were transported off site for recycling at the PSC Metals, Inc. facility in Canton, Ohio. START continued air monitoring around the perimeter of the Covered Shed.

A contractor for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) was on site to inquire about the status of the site and take pictures. The proposed State Route 30 will bisect the northern portion of the site.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 8 loads (~211 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for treatment at the EQ Treatment Facility in Canton, Ohio. ERRS continued processing and loading scrap metal for recycling. 2 loads (~16 tons) of scrap metal were transported off site for recycling at the PSC Metals, Inc. facility in Canton, Ohio.  START continued air monitoring around the perimeter of the Covered Shed.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 8 loads (~225 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for treatment at the EQ Treatment Facility in Canton, Ohio. ERRS continued processing and loading scrap metal for recycling. START continued air monitoring around the perimeter of the Covered Shed.

On Thursday, October 23, 2014, 8 loads (~234 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for treatment at the EQ Treatment Facility in Canton, Ohio. ERRS conducted a clean-up of the recently discovered asbestos contaminated building filler material at the north end of the partially demolished kiln building. ERRS was tasked to remove unsafe portions of the partially demolished kiln building. In the process of rendering unsafe portions of the partially demolished kiln building safe, more of the building was demolished than planned. During this process, additional suspect ACM was discovered. The demolition debris generated from this activity will be transported and disposed as friable ACM. START continued air monitoring around the perimeter of the Covered Shed.

On Friday, October 24, 2014, 8 loads (~234 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for treatment at the EQ Treatment Facility in Canton, Ohio.  The friable ACWM generated from the partially demolished kiln building was loaded into one truck (~13 tons) and transported off site for disposal at the American Landfill in Waynesburg, Ohio. The northern portion of the Lean-to, located on the west perimeter of the former asbestos exclusion zone, was demolished in order to access additional debris for disposal. START conducted metals screening of the soil on site that will be used to backfill the pits and trenches uncovered during the asbestos removal activities. ERRS began moving backfill material from a stockpile of soil on site to the pits and trenches of the former asbestos exclusion zone. START continued air monitoring around the perimeter of the Covered Shed.

No work scheduled for Saturday or Sunday

On Monday, October 27, 2014, 8 loads (~227 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for treatment at the EQ Treatment Facility in Canton, Ohio.  ERRS also began the clean-up of floor and walls inside the Covered Shed. ERRS continued moving backfill material from a stockpile of soil on site to the pits and trenches of the former asbestos exclusion zone. ERRS began removing standing water from within the trenches and pits prior to backfilling. START continued air monitoring around the perimeter of the Covered Shed. Tricia Edwards (US EPA OSC) attended a Osnaburg Township Council meeting to present the status of the removal activities on Site.

On Tuesday, October 28, 2014, 8 loads (~216 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for treatment at the EQ Treatment Facility in Canton, Ohio.  ERRS also continued the clean-up of floor and walls inside the Covered Shed. ERRS continued moving backfill material from a stockpile of soil on site to the pits and trenches of the former asbestos exclusion zone. ERRS continued removing standing water from within the trenches and pits prior to backfilling. START conducted metals screening of the soil outside the south end of the Covered Shed. Soil screening was conducted to determine if the soil outside the Covered Shed should be included with the T&D of the solids inside the Covered Shed. START continued air monitoring around the perimeter of the Covered Shed.

On Wednesday, October 29, 2014, 9 loads (~267 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for treatment at the EQ Treatment Facility in Canton, Ohio. Last load of hazardous solids was transported off site today. A total of 131 loads (~3,594 tons) of hazardous solids was transported off site for disposal. ERRS continued moving backfill material from a stockpile of soil on site to the pits and trenches of the former asbestos exclusion zone. ERRS continued removing standing water from within the trenches and pits prior to backfilling. Over-packed and lab-packed containers were relocated to the Covered Shed at the end of the shift in preparation for subsequent transportation and disposal.  Last day START conducted air monitoring around the perimeter of the Covered Shed.

On Thursday, October 30, 2014, 10 grease containers, 2 flammable containers, 8 acid containers, 8 caustic containers, and 3 cubic yard boxes of paint cans were transported to the Philip Service Corporation (PSC) in Akron, Ohio for disposal. ERRS conducted additional, limited demolition of some of the partially demolished buildings on site for safety purposes. ERRS also collected the remaining scrap metal to be loaded in the last roll-off box for subsequent recycling. ERRS continued decontamination of heavy equipment and preparation of resources for demobilization. A representative from the Canton City Health District and a representative from AFF Ohio arrived on site to conduct a site inspection.

On Friday, October 31, 2014, ERRS decontaminating and demobilizing some equipment today. Two additional ERRS personnel will be demobilizing at the end of the day. Work limited to ½ day because severe weather projected starting at noon.
