2.1.1 Current Activities
- ERRS excavated additional material from the NE portion of the site. During the excavation 93 capacitors were unearthed at an approximate depth of 18-24".
- ERRS excavated the southwest corner of the parking lot (Area C) to 18 inches. This area was then backfilled with 12 inches of fill and 6 inches of stone.
- ERRS continued dewatering of excavation areas as necessary to control storm and groundwater.
- ERRS began clearing vegetation and debris on the portion of the site owned by CLI. Cleared vegetation was loaded into 4 roll-offs (30 cubic yards each) and was transported off site for disposal.
- START conducted air monitoring for particulates. No action levels were exceeded.
- Collected sample from fill material supplier and shipped samples off site for VOCs, SVOCs, pesticides, PCB, and metals analyses.
- START collected samples from selected surface and subsurface
locations in the parking area. Samples were collected from 5 discrete locations. 5 subsurface samples were collected at a depth of 18-24" and 2 surface samples were collected.
- START collected confirmation samples from C-005 and screened the sample with a Clor-n-soil kit. Screening result was less than 50 ppm.
- START collected confirmation samples from C-008 through C-010 (northeast corner of site) and shipped the samples offsite analysis.
- ERRS received 12 loads of Mod 2A stone and 19 load of fill material for use in restoration. Received 2 loads of larger stone for use in the drainage basin.
- To date, a total of approximately 181 large capacitors and 2 small transformers have been found and are being stored on site in drums pending disposal.
