2. Current Activities

2.1 Operations Section

2.1.1 Narrative
The final reports (START and PRP) for the project were submitted, reviewed and approved by US EPA. Monitoring and maintenance activities have been conducted quarterly since completion of removal activities and minor repairs were completed.
2.1.2 Response Actions During Reporting Period
- Continued operation & maintenance of surface water run-off and erosion control measures;
- Conducted monitoring & maintenance surveys quarterly (December 2018, February 2019 & May 2019) with checklists and photo logs completed for by START and Wood Group after each inspection;
- Continued treatment for invasive plants in all restored areas;
- Continued operation of the irrigation system (removed in Spring 2019) in BRSAs as needed; and
- Completed repairs identified in the post-construction checklists in each BRSA.

2.2 Planning Section

2.2.1 Anticipated Activities
- A final monitoring & maintenance survey will be conducted in August 2019. A final report will be prepared and submitted by Wood Group on the post-construction monitoring & maintenance phase of the project. This report will be reviewed by US EPA.

2.2.1.2 Administrative Activities / Next Steps
The final letter report summarizing air monitoring, split sampling and other activities was received from START on May 24, 2019. The final construction report from Wood Group on behalf of the PRPs was received by US EPA on July 29, 2019 and approved on July 31, 2019. Both documents and posted and available for download on the 'Documents' section of the project website (see Section 6.1).
2.2.2 Issues
The access gates and roadways along the riverbanks in BRSAs 1,3,4,6,8 & 9 are still in place and will remain until the implementation of the remedial phase of the project in adjacent floodplains.

2.5.1 Safety Officer
Site safety protocols are still in place within work areas. A safety officer is designated for any work crews working within BRSAs.
2.5.2 Liaison Officer
Tours with agency executives/personnel, elected officials, universities, residents, and non-profit organizations continue.
2.5.3 Information Officer
- A final community meeting (presentation available in the 'Documents' section of the website) was held on September 13, 2018;
- An updated Fact Sheet (available in the 'Documents' section of the website) was finalized and distributed in September 2018;
- MDNR lifted the closure order, and held a 'ribbon cutting' ceremony on August 30 to announce the river was open for recreation. The ceremony was attended by politicians, agency executives, contractors and local residents.
