2. Current Activities
  2.1 Operations Section
   

2.1.1 Narrative

The GC continued restoration activities in BRSA 1. All equipment was demobilized, and the area was opened for public use as parking on December 15. Though set up of the staging / support area in BRSA 3 is underway, fieldwork has been suspended until mid-January.

 2.1.2 Response Actions During Reporting Period

The following activities took place during the reporting period:

- Reconstruction & restoration in BRSA 1 in coordination with Michigan DNR;
- Initial construction activities for support / staging / crew parking area in BRSA 3;
- Investigation derived waste from pre-design sampling was removed for transport & disposal;
- Surveying & staking of potential support / staging areas for BRSAs 3-9; and
- Infrastructure was removed from the riverbank at a private residence in BRSA 4.

2.2.1 Anticipated Activities
During the next reporting period, the following activities are expected to occur:

- Continued construction of staging and crew parking area in BRSA 3;
- Surveying and staking in remaining BRSAs;
- Land clearing in access / staging / support areas for BRSAs 3, 4, 6 & 9;
- Obtain access agreements from property owner(s) in BRSAs 8 & 9; and
- Maintenance / monitoring of the temporary WCS.

2.2.1.2 Next Steps
- Permits are being obtained from the Allegan County Road Commission and Michigan DOT for anticipated work in or along rights of way for remaining BRSAs;
- A second draft Technical Memorandum for BRSAs 2 & 3 (submitted by AMEC-FW on December 9), was approved by US EPA on December 14;
- AMEC-FW presented the general approach in remaining BRSAs at a planning meeting with stakeholders on December 16; and
- AMEC-FW will facilitate planning meetings for work in remaining BRSAs on January 25 and February 22.
