  2.1 Operations Section
    2.1.1 Narrative
Wake County Health Department measured elevated levels of Dieldrin and Chloradane at a residential well near the intersection of Bond Street and Trawick Road. Wake County Helath Department noted that a large commercial wholesale nursery is located on the other side of Trawick Road from the well location. EPA was asked to respond to the site; EPA spoke with the affected residents and offered to provide bottled water to them until  EPA could sample the well to confirm the county's analytical results.  The affected residents did not accept EPAs offer of bottled water at this time; the residents wished to wait for EPAs confirmation results and would reconsider at that time.
EPA met with the owner of the nursery (Taylors Nursery) and briefed them on the situation.

2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
EPA offered bottled water to affected residents. Residents chose not to accept bottled water until EPAs sample results confirm the county's results.  EPA will be sampling wells, obtaining access from other nearby residents with wells, and coordinating efforts with Wake County.

  2.2 Planning Section
    2.2.1 Anticipated Activities
EPA extended bottled water offer to affected residents (residents did not accept offer).
EPA will resample the impacted well to confirm the county's results on Monday 12/10.
EPA is sampling wells located on the property of Taylor's Nursery on Monday 12/10.
EPA will continue to coordinate with county officials and residents.
EPA will work with the county health department to determine which residents are on wells vs city water and attempt to gain access for sampling.

2.2.1.1 Planned Response Activities
Identify residents that are at risk, sample wells to determine affected population and mitigate exposures with alternative water supply.

2.2.1.2 Next Steps
Sample and confirm analytical results.

2.2.2 Issues
This area is not in the City of Raleigh city limits. It is considered a "Donut Hole" where the city has grown around this neighborhood and not annexed this area; thus waterlines and city sewer has not been extended and provided down this street.
