2.1.1 Narrative
For the period from August 25 through September 5, 2014 EPA continued site set-up activities, continued mobilizing ERRS personnel and began shipping Asbestos contaminated debris.
2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
There are no site activities on the weekends.
On Monday, August 25, 2014, 15 loads (~228 tons) of ACWM was transported off site for disposal at the American Landfill in Waynesburg, Ohio. ERRS continued the staging ACWM from various areas within the asbestos exclusion zone to the load-out area. ERRS continued personnel air monitoring for worker exposure. START continued perimeter air monitoring and air sampling.
On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, 16 loads (~271 tons) of ACWM was transported off site for disposal at the American Landfill in Waynesburg, Ohio. ERRS continued the staging ACWM from various areas within the asbestos exclusion zone to the load-out area. EPA OSC and ERRS personnel entered the blue building on site to collect samples from orphaned drums and containers. ERRS continued personnel air monitoring for worker exposure. START continued perimeter air monitoring and air sampling.
On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, 16 loads (~263 tons) of ACWM was transported off site for disposal at the American Landfill in Waynesburg, Ohio. ERRS continued the staging ACWM from various areas within the asbestos exclusion zone to the load-out area. ERRS Chemist conducted hazardous characterization testing on drum and container samples collected yesterday. ERRS continued personnel air monitoring for worker exposure. START continued perimeter air monitoring and air sampling.
On Thursday, August 28, 2014, no ACWM transported to the landfill for disposal today. ERRS crew inside the asbestos exclusion zone removing ACWM from trenches and pits. All ACWM relocated to the load-out area. Jason El-Zein, Matt Murkowski and Steve Wolfe (US EPA) conducted compliance audit of the site. ERRS loaded 30-yard dumpster with crushed totes and drums. ERRS continued personnel air monitoring for worker exposure. START continued perimeter air monitoring and air sampling.

On Wednesday, September 3, 2014, 15 loads (~268 tons) of ACWM was transported off site for disposal at the American Landfill in Waynesburg, Ohio. ERRS continued working in the asbestos exclusion zone relocating ACWM to the load-out area. One 30-yard dumpster of crushed totes removed from Site & replace with empty dumpster. EPA OSC, ERRS RM and START conducted a site walk to delineate the extent of ACWM removal in the Former Manufacturing Area. ERRS continued personnel air monitoring for worker exposure. START continued perimeter air monitoring and air sampling.
On Thursday, September 4, 2014, 16 loads (~292 tons) of ACWM was transported off site for disposal at the American Landfill in Waynesburg, Ohio. EPA OSC and START continued the delineation of the extent of ACWM removal in the Former Manufacturing Area. ERRS continued personnel air monitoring for worker exposure. START continued perimeter air monitoring and air sampling.
On Friday, September 5, 2014, 15 loads (~294 tons) of ACWM was transported off site for disposal at the American Landfill in Waynesburg, Ohio. ERRS began removing ACWM from the railroad spur ditch. ERRS continued personnel air monitoring for worker exposure. START continued perimeter air monitoring and air sampling.
2.1.3 Enforcement Activities, Identity of Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs)
The PRP has been identified and appropriate enforcement actiivities have been initiated by the local and State authorities.
